Admitting they face an uphill struggle against the runaway Premier League leaders, who put four past Basel in the 1st round of the Champions Leage last-16 first leg game last night, he said: “The reality for us is we’ve got to try to beat them. With the best will in the world, everything that they do, every side that comes before them, they seem to put away quite comfortably.”

The Latics, who famously lifted their only major trophy by upsetting City at liverpool babytøj Wembley in the 2013 FA Cup final, are on course to bounce back to the Sky Bet Championship after last season’s relegation.
Paul Cook is aiming for immediate promotion back to the Championship, but is under no illusions of the size of the job waiting for him on Monday.
